21.  Remedio para dolor de oídos
Zumo de hiedra o vereda terrestre echado en el oído que
doliere.  Dolerá luego más que antes, y se quitará luego de
todo punto.

Remedy for pain of the ears
Juice of ground ivy put in the ear that hurts.  It will hurt
later more than before, and stop later of all (pain)
completely.

22.  Para el dolor de dientes o de muelas
Tomaréis la simiente de hierbabuena y la pondréis sobre las
brasas. Y recibid el humo de ella en la boca.  Os quitará el
dolor y os matará los gusanos.

For the pain of teeth or of molars
Take the seeds of yerbabuena and put it over the (live)
coals.  And receive the smoke of it in the mouth.  It will
stop the pain and it will kill the worms.

23.  Remedio para los dientes
Tomad la hoja de la niebla y ponedla sobre el diente
horadado, y lo sanaréis.

Remedy for the teeth
Take the petal of the mildew (?) And put it over the tooth
bored (through), and it will heal.

24.  Remedio para las muelas
Dos onzas de rosas secas, y otras dos de mirabolanos, dos de
nuez de aciprés verdes partidas, media onza de piedra
alumbre, una cuarta de encienso, medio cuartillo de miel,
medio azumbre de vino blanco.  Puesto todo en una olla nueva
y tapada muy bien, cueza hasta que mengüe la mitad.  Y como
haya cocido, coladlo y guardadlo en una redoma de vidrio.  Y
cuando os dolieren las muelas, poned esta cocción al fuego a
entibiar.  Y tomadla en la boca a la parte que os dolieren
las muelas, y se os quitará el dolor luego.

Remedy for the Molars
Two ounces of dry roses, and another two of sunflowers, two
of green cypress parted, half ounce of stone slum, one
quarter of frankincense, half pint of honey, half azumbre
(one litre) of white wine.  Put all in a new pot and top it
very well, cook until it reduces the half.  And when it has
cooked, strain it and guard it in a glass container.  And
when our molars hurt, put this concoction to fire to cover
(to keep the medicine from dissipating). 
And take it in the mouth at the part that the molars hurt,
and they will stop hurting later.

25.  Agua de rostro
Sangre de dragón puesta en una alquitara, y sacar el agua de
ella a fuego manso. Y después de sacada, a cantidad de un
azumbre de agua, echar una avellana de azúcar piedra. Y
ponerla al sol, y serene por espacio de nueve días.  Es muy
buena para el rostro.

Face water
Dragon's blood put in a still, and take out the water of it
with a small flame.  And after taking it out, a quantity of
an azumbre (2 litres) of water, cast a hazelnut (sized)
piece of stone sugar.  And put it in the sun, and leave it
to rest for the space of nine days.  It is very good for the
face.

26.  Agua de rostro
Media hanega de harina, cernidla tantas veces que quede en
un celemín. Después amasar esta harina con leche de cabras y
cocerla, hecha un pan, en el horno.  Y como la saquen del
horno, ponerla en una almofía vidriada, y cubrirla de vino
blanco. Y desque esté remojada, que se pondrá como espuma,
ponerla en una alquitara a fuego muy manso, y sacar agua de
este pan. Y como sea sacada el agua, ponerla en una redoma a
curar al sol y al sereno nueve días.  Es muy buena.

Face water
Half hanega (hanega = 4.6 bushels, so 2.3) of flour, sifted
as many times as remains in a celemin (half a peck).  After
knead this flour with goat milk and cook it, make a bread,
in the oven.  And when it is taken from the oven, put it in
a glass washbowl, and cover it of (with) white wine.  And
after it is steeped, that it puts foam, put it in a still to
fire very gently, and take water of this bread.  And when it
is taken the water, put it in a flaskto cure in the sun and
the shade nine days.  It is very good.

27.  Polvos para sacar color
Los polvos para sacar color al rostro son polvos de la mar y
llámanse sosa.

Powders to take out color (of the face)
The powders for taking color from the face are powders of
the sea and call themselves kelp.

28.  Para las espinas del rostro
Tomad una lima y cortadle la coronilla, y ponedle un poco de
sal dentro y ponedla a cocer al rescoldo. Y cueza hasta que
se ponga blanda.  Y sacadas las espinas, os mojaréis con
este zumo.  Y poned encima unos polvos de jengibre.

For the spines of the face
Take a lime and cut out the coronilla/crown, and put a
little salt between and put to cook in hot embers.  And cok
until it becomes soft.  And take out the spines, wet with
this juice.  And put on top some ginger powders.
29.  Remedio para que no torne a nacer el cabello
El zumo de limas batido con claras de huevos.  Recién pelado
el vello, ponerlo encima y polvorizarlo con polvos de
jengibre.  A tres o cuatro veces que se haga no tornará a
nacer más.

Remedy for not having rebirth of hair
The juice of limes beaten with egg whites.  On the recent
hairy veil, put (it) over the pulverize with ginger
powders.  After three or four times that it makes (hair) not
not turn to birth (any)more.

30.  Sebo para las manos
Sebo de cabrito muy lavado y desvenado. Derretido en una
cazuela vidriada con agua rosada y colado.  Después echarle
un poco de aceite de mata, y un poco de trementina de veta,
y tres o cuatro granos de almáciga, y un poco de espuma de
cera.  Y tornarlo al fuego y hacerlo panecicos.

Oil for the hands
Fat of kid very cleaned and deveined.  Melt in a glass pot
with rose water and strain.  After throw a little oil of
mastic, and a little turpentine, and three or four
seeds/grains of mastic, and a little scum of wax.  And take
it to flame and make little loaves.
