Where I grew up: On the way to the beach, my dad stopped at the fish store 
(not the bait shop) and bought a bunch of the cheapest grade of shrimp. He 
used some shrimp as bait for surf fishing, and kept the rest on ice. If 
nothing bit, we had the shrimp for dinner, if he caught fish, then it was 
boiled shrimp on the side.
