My only caveat on 'wild onions':

Make sure they're really onions! There are quite a few varieties of
flowers that grow from bulbs, an many look just like onions or shallots.
And many are NOT safe to eat. Personally, I wouldn't eat it if I didn't
grow it or buy it. Daffodils are tasty and tulips are treats- but
neither of them go well with meat! (Unless you have an enemy to get rid
of...)
