Went to a Japanese restaurant for the first time last weekend and tasted
REAL yam as opposed to our new world sweet potatoe...not the same AT ALL!

Were they true yams or were they sweet potatoes and just called "yams?"
Most of the stuff they call "yams" at the grocery are Ipomoea batatas and
are of New World origin.
