Where are the list archives?

Well, go to
http://lists.ansteorra.org/

Pull down the first menu and select SCA-Cooks

Then push the Options button

This will take you to a page with many options, among them accessing
the archives.

You can't GO to the archives and scan the contents, but you can have
majordomo send you info on the archives. However, it would be hard to
say exactly where any particular foofarahs are housed, unless someone
here remembers what time period that occured in. Then when you
decide, you can have majordomo send you packets of archives.

Not very transparent, but at least it's there.

As for religious restrictions...

If you are interested in the life of your persona, then i think you
ought to inform yourself about his/her religion and related food
restrictions.

On the other hand, if you don't give a farkle about persona, history
of the Medieval and Renaissance periods, how religion influences
food, etc., then don't bother.

Me, i'm interested in life in the Medieval and Renaissance periods in
Europe and the Near East, even though no one then practiced the
religion i do now. So what? What's wrong with being informed? I don't
have to participate in actual distasteful religious practices to
understand what it was like at that time period and have this inform
my persona and my understanding of just how much religion influenced
just about every aspect of life in those times.

Not wanting to cause a dust-up, but...
