At last, here is another batch of recipes.  #140 sounds
vaguely like churros, but I've not seen a recipe for them,
so I will leave it to others to say how similar the two
actually are.

117 Remedio para el dolor de ijada

     Tomarán nueve cochinillas de unas que andan debajo de
los naranjos que, en llegándoles, se hacen peloticas.
Molerlas mucho y deshacerlas en vino blanco o en agua de
azahar, y darlas a beber al enfermo. Hacer esto treinta
días y quitársele ha el dolor de todo punto. Cuando bebiere
esto, el enfermo acostarse ha sobre el lado donde fuere el
dolor.

Remedy for pain of the flank/midsection
     Take nine woodlice/cochineals of some that walk under
the orange trees that, in arriving to them, make themselves
ball-shaped (1).  Grind them well and dissolve them in
white wine or in citrus blossom water, and give them to the
invalid to drink.  Do this for thirty days and the pain
must leave every point.  When drinking this, the invalid
must lie down on the side where the pain is.

1: that roll up into balls when disturbed?  

118 Lavatorio para la boca

     Una onza de cabezas de rosas y una cuarta de la
simiente; una onza de cuerno de ciervo quemado hasta que
tome blanco, media onza de cuescos de dátiles, una cuarta
de flor de romero, dos ochavas de almáciga, otro tanto de
sal gema y otras dos de grasa; media ochava de canela, otra
media de clavos. Todas estas cosas molidas y cocidas en dos
cañadas de vinagre blanco fuerte. Muy cocidas, enjuagar la
boca con este lavatorio.

Wash for the mouth
     An ounce of rose heads and a quarter of the seed; an
ounce of stag's horn burned until it becomes (1) white,
half an ounce of date pits, a quarter of rosemary flowers,
two eighths of mastic, another as much of salt crystals and
another two of fat; half an eighth of cinnamon, another
half of cloves.  All these things ground and cooked in two
canes(2).  [When] thoroughly cooked, rinse your mouth with
this wash.

2: According to the RAE dictionary, this is a wine measure
larger than an arroba.  The Maria Moliner dictionary says
that (modernly) a canada is the same as a canado, which is
equal to about 37 liters.

121 Vino tinto para el rostro

     Dos azumbres de vino tinto, ocho maravedís de piedra
de solimán, y otros ocho de mirra, cuatro de alcanfor,
cuatro de bórax y otros cuatro de clarimente; simiente de
seis adormideras, tres o cuatro maravedís de pepitas de
calabaza, un maravedí de cardenillo. Todo esto molido y
puesto con el vino. Batir seis huevos con cáscaras y
ponerlos con el vino, y batirlo todo mucho; y puesto en una
redoma todo. Poner la redoma al sol y menearlo cada día
hasta que se aclare. Y en estando claro, quitar la redoma
del sol.

Red wine for the face
     Two azumbres of red wine, eight maravedis of mercury
chloride[1] stone, and another eight of myrhh, four of
camphor, four of borax and another four of cosmetic water;
the seeds of six poppies, three or four maravedis of gourd
seeds, a maravedi of copper carbonate.  All this ground and
put with the wine.  Beat six eggs with shells and put them
with the wine, and beat it all well; and all all in a
flask.  Put the flask in the sun and stir/shake it each day
until it clears.  And when it is clear, take the flask out
of the sun.

1: The only definition I've found for soliman is that it is
made by combining mercury and chlorine; mercury chloride is
white, which fits with its use on the face, but I am open
to other suggestions.

122 Vinagre para lavar el rostro

     Poner seis huevos en remojo en vinagre blanco y
dejarlos hasta que se coma la cáscara. Y después sacarlos,
y abrirlos en una bacía y tomar las yemas, y batirlas en
una almofia. Y poner con ellas dos maravedís de solimán
piedra y dos de bórax, y dos de clarimente, y dos de
oropimente, y dos de alcanfor, y dos de albayalde, y una
raíz de taragontía, y una cebolla de azucena, y una
cucharada de miel, y un poco de hormento, y cuatro
maravedís de mirra, y un poco de vidrio molido, y un poco
de canina de perro molida y cernida, y unos pocos de
angelotes. Todas estas cosas molidas y juntas con las yemas
de los huevos. Echar con ello un cuartillo de vino blanco y
unas pocas de las claras de los huevos, y un poco de
vinagre. Y batirlo todo junto muy bien. Y después batirlo
dos o tres días arreo y dejarlo hasta que se aclare.

Vinegar for washing the face
     Put six eggs to soak in white vinegar and leave them
until the shells are consumed.  And afterwards remove them,
and open them in a basin and take the yolks, and beat them
in a washbasin.  And put with them two maravedis of mercury
chloride(?) stone and two of borax, and two of cosmetic
water, and two of  orpiment, and two of camphor, and two of
white lead, and a root of green dragon (Arisaema
dracontium)(?), and an onion [i.e. root?] of white lily,
and a spoonful of honey, and a little fermenting agent, and
four maravedis of myrrh, and a little ground glass, and a
little ground and sifted dog fang, and a few [Angelfish
(Squatina squatina) or stinky clover(?)].  All these things
ground and mixed with the egg yolks.  Put with it a pint of
white wine and a few of the egg whites, and a little
vinegar.  And beat it all together very well.  And
afterwards beat it two or three days in a row(1) and leave
it until it clears.

1: or possibly, constantly, but that seems unlikely.

138 Receta para pasta real

     Las almendras mondadas las cortaréis en cuartos como
piñones. Y luego tomaréis azúcar molido; y para dos
escudillas de azúcar tomar una de agua rosada. Y junto
todo, pondreislo a cocer; y como sea cozido, es hecha la
pasta real.

Recipe for royal paste
     Cut shelled almonds in quarters like pine nuts.  And
then take ground sugar; and for two bowls of sugar take one
of rose water.  And all together, put it to cook; and when
it is cooked, the royal paste is made.

139 Receta para hacer hiprocás

     Para una arroba de vino cuatro onzas de canela y diez
libras de azúcar; revuelto todo en un lebrillo muy bien. Y
ponerlo en una manga para que se cuele, y poner en la manga
un poco de almizcle.

 Recipe to make hippocras
     For an arroba(1) of wine four ounces of cinnamon and
ten pounds of sugar; all stirred well in an earthenware
bowl.  And put it in a [hose? sleeve?] in order that it
strain/filter, and put in the [hose? sleeve?] a little
musk.

1: a variable liquid measure, or a weight measure of 11.5
kg.

140 Acaravias reales

     Harina muy cernida batida con leche y huevos, partes
iguales, hasta que se ponga muy rala. Y luego ponerla en
una olla y poner la olla junto al fuego. Y desde a una ora,
poner una sartén al fuego con mucha manteca. Y poner de la
masa en una cazuela que tenga hechos cinco agujeros y caiga
la masa por aquellos agujeros en la manteca; y darles la
vuelta y sacarlas. Y como las saquen, poner la una encima
de la otra echándoles azúcar molido por encima.

Royal caraways(1)
     Very [well-]sifted flour beaten with milk and eggs,
equal parts, until it becomes very thin.  And then put it
in a pot and put the pot by the fire.  And from an hour
(2), put a frying pan on the fire with much lard.  And put
[some] of the dough in a casserole that has five holes made
[in it] and [let] the dough fall through those holes into
the lard;  and turn them and remove them.  And as you
remove them, put one over another, tossing ground sugar on
top.

1: alcaravea=caraway; but this may be some other thing
entirely.
