You could have asked Col. John P. Stapp MD, "The Fastest Man Alive," but he
died in 1999.  During one of his 27 rocket sled test rides, he experienced a
force of over 40 Gs by reaching the land speed record of 632 MPH in 5
seconds and decelerating to 0 in 1.25 seconds.  The Alamogordo Space Center
memorial page doesn't have the "after" photos from the ride, but they were
widely published at the time and Col. Stapp looks very "tender" in them.
