Queen's Reception
I know that the word Court within SCA usage has certain connotations of
formality and awards. Could the word be used to indicate a gathering of
people in the Presence of Royalty, without everyone assuming that heralds
and awards are involved? If so, then how about:
Queen's Small Court
Small Court of the Queen
Queen's Ladies Court
Queen's Morning Court (or Afternoon, as the case may be)
A description rather than a name might serve better:
"The Queen will hold a Reception for Ladies of the Kingdom"
"The Queen will Receive the Ladies of the Peerage"
"Ladies may attend the Queen at Her Breakfast" (or whatever meal is
appropriate)
I like including some description of just who is invited (Ladies, Ladies of
the Peerage) because sometimes there is a limited group and other times a
general invitation, but you never really know as all that is ever said is
"Queen's Tea" . One can always ask the autocrat, but I'm in favor of
making things clear from the beginning.
Lady Bonne
- - - who was practically in tears reading Kiri's invitation. Oh, how I'd
like to go home for this! Though I've never been to an event that far north
in Atlantia and going home to where I've never been is somewhat Alice-like.
An Un-homecoming.
