I hazard to partially disagree with you on that one.
I agree good cooks can make good food, but I know some
very good cooks 
who
have made recipies that were just horrible.  All in
the name of period.

I have to say this is one of the main reasons I joined
this list. I have had the occasional goody at an A&S 
or something that someone just made to see if they
could, but I have yet to go to an enjoyable period
feast. I'm NOT saying it can't be done. From what has
been said on this list, evidently it can be done
wonderfully. I just haven't had occasion to see that
yet.
  I LOVE to cook (hate to clean up, but love making
the mess) and love introducing people to new(or in
this case old) foods. So when I do get around to doing
a feast instead of a camp kitchen, I think I'll be
doing at least mostly period dishes. ANd it is because
of what I have seen on the list here. In the few
months I've been on this list, I've learned alot. And
I'd like to thank you all for sharing that knowledge
with me.
