No Walmart around here that i know of, but i'll keep a lookout at the 
normal supermarkets.

However, weren't the peas used in the Medieval pea puree (used on 
sauces fish days and Lent, i believe) dried peas? Are these peas 
available dried? Somehow the idea of using canned peas in a Medieval 
dish feels wrong - then, again, i use canned chick peas... but they 
take WAY longer to cook than dried peas.

Guess now that i have a few names i can try web-searching...
