There seems to be a certain set of people who simply dislike the
licorice-flavored seeds intensely. It's so consistent that I sometimes
wonder if it is genetic.
It's a real pity for a period cook, too, because the licorice-flavored
seeds and their relatives do seem to be widely advocated by period
herbalists and other sources as food spices, etc. because of their
digestive, stomachic, and carminative properties.
