I am getting around there not being a feast by spending the Friday
before cooking basicaly the same feast I did for the Archery event. I plan
to drop off some with the Royal room then share the rest with a select few
of my friends (people on this list are part of that number I can't afford to
cook for the whole 1200-1500 people expected) & anyone helping Michael out
on Troll (I will be working Troll for the early/Merchant shift).
There were several problems with doing the feast this year. I am not
totaly familiar with all of them but part of it was the dificulty in getting
a nearby location that was available that day. I understand that the
previous feast site had something already scheduled for that Sat. Part of
the problem is that Birka is larger than any place in NH can put on that is
not connected to a Major Hotel or Convention Center that wants an
unreasonable amount of rent. I had suggested in the past that it be turned
into a 2 day event at a convention hall in Manchester then opening the event
to the general public on Sunday as a"Ren Faire" to defray the cost. I
don't think the Barony is ready to do that -yet.
As for me returning to Stonemarche, I plan to in about 2-3 years after I
finish up at the Worcester Center for Crafts. My boss has decided to bring
one of the guys from AL to MA (the 80+ hour/weeks were getting to me) so I
can start back to school at the end of March (& be able to attend at least 1
event a month).
All of that being said I hope you will all come to Birka the Barony &
the Autocrats have grown it into a realy great event. Not that I am biased
about it or anything.;^}
Hej!
Olaf
who keeps getting blamed for Birka by the exhausted Autocrats & members of
the Barony of Stonemarch
