Having grown up eating that kind, I prefer them. There is a slight
bitterness to the other kind. But not enough to keep me from eating them.
And the florida kind is big enough to make enough guacamole for one meal,
whereas you need two or three of the small, bumpy kind. Back in NC, both
were the same price per each so when they did have the big, smooth kind
that's what I bought.

Recipe: if you've only had mexican-style guacamole, try Florida style

make a dressing using about 2 Tablespoons mayonaise, a crushed clove or two
of garlic, a tablespoon of finely minced onion, juice of a lemon, and
freshly ground black pepper. Peel your cucumber and dice it and stir into
the sauce. While the edges of the avocados should smooth out into the
dressing, the cubes should stay cube-like. Do not stir it until it is a
complete mush like mexican style. This is enough for a largish FL avocado,
so use at least two, maybe three of the other kind. You want barely coated
pieces, not cubes swimming in dressing.

You can eat this like a salad, or use just like guacomole.

Oh, I've been very happy indeed to assist you in eating up the avocados!
(her's are so cute and little!) In fact, the bitter taste is more
noticeable because they are so fresh and we've maybe eaten some of them a
little too soon. But I'm getting accustomed to it, and maybe even WOULD
think the other kind bland now.

avocados are another one of those gee I'm glad I'm in California things.
Lately, I've been able to purchase 4 small bumpy type for about $2.50,
rather than about $1 or more each. It almost makes up for the milk prices.
