Actually, every apprentice that I have ever had asked
if they could be apprecticed to me. Not the other way
around. The first two didn't work out because of
distance, although we are still good friends. My
current apprentice is working out quite well, because
he lives only twenty miles away and I can see him
frequently if necessary. His wife is one of my
oldest, best friends. After he asked for an
apprenticeship, I asked his wife if she wanted to be
one too, but she turned me down, saying she wanted to
do her own thing, but would like the occasional
critique or help, so I now call her my "protege",
because I am not teaching her.

I am always open to new apprentices. I consider it a
compliment when they ask. Although I am tempted to
ask a recent immigrant to Caid if she is interested.
