Here's a recipe for medium white sauce. It's from Cookbook USA,
which is a CD-ROM compendium of hundreds of community/charity
cookbooks. It has a lot of 50s and 60s style recipes.
#471499 MEDIUM WHITE SAUCE
 Ingredients :
1 1/2 tbsp. butter or margarine
 1 tbsp. cornstarch
 1 c. milk
 1/2 tsp. salt
 1/8 tsp. pepper
 Preparation :
Melt butter in saucepan. Blend in cornstarch, salt and pepper.
Gradually add milk. Heat to boiling over direct heat and then boil
gently 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Makes 1 cup sauce.
Combine with 2 cups drained, cooked or canned vegetables, diced
meat, flaked fish or 4 hard cooked sliced eggs. Serves 4.
