Hi Folks -

I'm forwarding this on to the list because I thought some of you might be
interested. We are planning a modified medieval "Iron Chef" tournament for
the feast and are looking for teams to enter. Ithaca is about 4 hours from
NY, 6 from Philly, 6 from Pittsburgh, 4 from Toronto, 6 from Boston...you
get the picture - if you are in the north east part of the country, we
probably aren't too far away and this is going to be a LOT of fun. If you
are interested, please contact me and I'll let you know more about the format!

A CONCOCTION OF COOKS/QUEEN'S RAPIER CHAMPS
April 7, 2001
Dominion of Myrkfaelinn/Ithaca NY

The Dominion plays host to the great fencers of AEthelmearc to decide the
next Queen's Rapier Champion! There is ample indoor fencing space in
case of inclement weather, and a lovely auditorium for acknowledging the
winner at Court. Tourney format will be cooked up by the current
Champion, Eric Kyl McGuinniss.

Since our site features a grand kitchen, we've decided to throw down the
gauntlet to others besides the Fencers. Cooks, we challenge you to a
Modified Medieval "Iron Chef" tournament! The results will be served at
feast, so form your team and contact THL Caitlin Ruadh
(ruadh at twcny.rr.com, 607-347-6474) for an overview of how this will work!
Entries will be judged by a number of criteria, amongst them
Documentation, Presentation, and perhaps even Ballistic Capability
(catapults may be used for this purpose).

Scholars, fear not! You won't be left idle. Rooms are available for
classes of all kinds, and we welcome those that run longer than the 1- or
2-hour slots available at most other collegia. Although there is no
space for heavy fighting, we are interested in War College topics such as
equipment, tactics, history, safety, getting back in shape after a
<burp!> winter indoors, etc. Interested teachers, please contact the
Autocrat.

The site is Boynton Middle School, Ithaca NY (site of our 1999 Music &
Dance Collegium). It will be open from 9 am to 9 pm. Gentles tarrying
late into the night will be thrown to the wolves. The Autocrat is Yang
Liu, called "Willow" (Estella Young, 312 Thurston Avenue #A35, Ithaca NY
14850, ey16 at cornell.edu, 607-257-1251).

Onboard price is $14, Offboard $8, Outboard $7. Half-price for those
aged 6-16; those age 5 and under attend free. A tasty sideboard lunch
will be served to all. Feast is limited to 100 gentles. There will be
separate tables in the feasthall for gentles eating dinner offboard.
Those with dietary concerns regarding sideboard or feast should contact
Lady Angeline di Aquila (Angie Malone, alm4 at cornell.edu).

To make a reservation or a crash space request, please contact our
Gentleman for Miscellaneous Uses, Lord Cosimo Bassi (Jerry Shipman, 114
Stewart Ave. #1, Ithaca NY 14850, jes59 at cornell.edu, 607-277-6485). As
always, the only real reservation is a paid one! Please make checks
payable to "SCA Inc., Dominion of Myrkfaelinn". Include both the SCA and
mundane names of the gentles for whom you are making reservations, and a
SASE/email address if you wish confirmation. For updates, see our event
webpage http://www.lightlink.com/merellia/myrkfaelinn/rapcook/.
Merchants are welcome; please contact the Autocrat.
