<< I was told last year that crab prices would be
 outrageous this year and probably next year as well.
 Too much overfishing, and the people who regulate that
 kind of thing have drastically limited the number of
 crabs and areas where they can be caught. They need a
 year or two to recover from the over fishing. >>

    This summer, a dozen smalls at Rehoboth Beach (Del) was running for about
$40, so yeah, those prices sound about right. Locals told us that they
couldn't go crabbing much anymore, because there's just nothing there
anymore. Delaware really restricted their crabbing in the last few years, so
we haven't had much in the way of crab feasts in a while. I remember when my
 (now) father in law would get five or six bushels of crabs from Ed's (or
another guy, whose name is escaping me; he was out by Joppa, Md) and bring
'em back here to Greensburg, and we'd have a neighborhood crab
feast...::sigh::  I miss those days.
