You might do what I try with my "Grump" Dad. I start
cooking one of his 
recipes in front of him. It takes about a 1/2 of a
second before he is 
hovering and pointing out my errors.  Works everytime!
 





That's how my mom got my grandfathers spaghetti
recipe.It works on most people.
