I made some of the marzipan peach pits from Granado for a baronial meeting
this weekend. I always forget how realistic they look to someone who
doesn't know what they are. One lady glanced down at the refreshment
table and said in a puzzled what-are-they-doing-here tone of voice, "Those look
like... peach pits."
I had occasion to write to the potter who made my molds, Mistress Olga
Belobashnina Cherepanova. She tells me that she is going to make some
peach-pit molds to sell at Pennsic this year. She is one of several
potters who do business under the name of "Ash Griffin Pottery". (I
am not getting a kickback for telling you this.)
