I admit that my words were not based on personal experience. On the
other hand, the recipes I've seen all seem to call for a very long mixed
cooking process which could be seen to remove all (or most) flavor of
the meat itself in favor of the seasonings involved. And then there are
the sweet potatoes they are frequently baked with... the simplest
recipes for fried racoon and such seem to call for very young (and
presumably very wild) animals.

Adamantius, who'd been planning on taking the racoon invading his tent
to the one trustworthy camp cook, had he not missed it by an inch with
his stave in the dark...
