I respectfully disagree. Even better is when a film is taken seriously
enough to be released in alternate languages, with sober thought and serious
work being done to re-write the dialogue to Western idiom, as opposed to a
strict translation. I feel that Neil Gaiman did a lovely job with Princess
Mononoke and regret that it wasn't appreciated more here. Until the general
American audience supports such efforts, otaku here will congregate at
conventions like A-Kon watching second generation fan-subbed films and the
masses will flock to American Pie or the Fast and the Furious and such
nonsense.

But I agree with you on Saban. A worse evil than William Shatner. 8-)

Does mentioning American Pie count as obligatory food content? I doubt
it..... How about "My beet dye still hasn't faded in my wool." Which it
hasn't, but I really haven't sunned it like the others, either.
