What about 'pasteurized process cheese food'? Basically Velveeta (the SPAM
<tm> of the cheeses) in sliced form.

Real American cheese is saved for grilled cheese sandwiches, which,
although they are allowed to contain tomato slices, must be on white
bread, grilled with margarine, and served with cream of tomato soup.
