[Sca-cooks] True sandwich

Well, i'm a bore, inasmuch as i am just NOT a sandwich kinda guy...

and a copycat, because...
The only sandwich i eat regularly (that's maybe one time a year) is a
Reuben at the Jewish deli not too far from here (but i usually have
half corned beef and half pastrami), stacked a mile high with meat
and sauerkraut (and sometimes some melted Swiss cheese). With cole
slaw and a really garlicy Jewish dill pickle on the side and a Dr.
Brown's Cel-Ray Tonic to drink. Although sometimes an egg cream -
there is ONLY ONE flavor: chocolate... although this deli now
serves... shudder... vanilla egg creams... shudder...

On occasion (once every two or three years) i long for a Monte
Cristo, although they aren't made around here anymore, so i haven't
eaten one in at least a decade. We had a Monte Cristo discussion
before on this list and i saved the restaurants folks sent.
Unfortunately the nearest one is around 2 hours from here...

Certainly there are other sandwiches i have enjoyed in my life and
have eaten more than once, but, well, basically, sandwiches aren't my
thing... i'm not much of a bread guy either.

And i confess that the mere thought of bologna on bleached white
balloon bread with yellow (French's style) mustard makes me cringe.
This is not food from MY childhood.

Of course that beats the snack my fellow kids used to make at summer
camp in the afternoon... balloon bread with margarine and white
granulated sugar <cringe.. shudder>.

Anahita
the only white bread my mom served was Pepperidge Farm unbleached white
