Depends on the people, and the recipe. I was at a Norse event once,
a number of years ago; one of the dishes was a salmon dish
which disappeared from the tables such that the servers didn't
get any at all. (I can't remember if it was period: whole salmons
minus heads; peel back the skin, slather on herbed butter, replace
the skin, wrap in tinfoil securely, and bake. Good Stuff!). . . . and
the table I was at went through four? five? tables' worth of 
pickled herring. . . 
If the recipe is a good one, people will eat it. Unless they've eaten too
much, and simply don't have any more room. <grin>
