In the late 50's and early 60's I lived on Midway Island. I used to ferry
over to an atoll nearby they call Bird Island (you've probably seen it on
PBS or National Geographic-it's where they study frigate birds and
ferry-turns) and spend a day or a weekend eating whatever I could catch or
find rumaging through the bomb shelter there. That was all rations that
were stashed during the WWII. I was just thinking about those tins of round
biscuits just yesterday. Loved em.
