Sorry gys,

I meant to say Absinthe was banned in the 1920's. I know that it can be
ordered readily, and that it is still sold legally in many countries (I
picked up a bottle in the Azores last year). However, if you order it from
England (where it has just become legal again) they tell you upfront that if
your package is stopped in customs, that it is entirely possible that it will
be confiscated. It really depends on the knowledge of the person in customs.
I also know that wormwood can be bought, and infused into vodka to make a
homemade version of absinthe. (Ok, so it is a little bit more complicated
than that, but its only spices and stuff.) I made some of this last year
when a friend asked me to experiment to see the difference between the
homemade stuff and commercial. The ban on Absinthe itself dates to an event
that happened in France, where a man is said to have imbibed freely and then
gone home to kill his family. They don't mention that he had imbibed freely
on a lot of other stuff too...
