Actually, I didn't need Goldenrod...which is why I am
glad it didn't take :)

When I first started my 'heirloom' garden, I was
clamboring for almost any kind of herb/plant/fruit
which was known to have been period. I made a few
mistakes, and discovered a few of them don't grow well
in my climate zone. Fortunately, the goldenrod died
of thirst/heat/bad gardening before it started to
propogate. I don't mind goldenrod, but didn't want it
in my garden at the time. For what it's worth, I have
also managed to kill Rosemary officianalis...which is
almost impossible to kill where I live. I said I
'like' to garden....never said I was 'good' at it :)

For anyone who is interested, the garden now contains
herbs and vegetables which were known to exist in
period, but only one or two (I think) are actual
'heirloom' varieties. I'm slowly replacing the more
modern versions with true heirloom varieties as they
become available to me. Some day, I hope to have a
completely 'period' garden. I guess I'll have to get
rid of that 'bird-made-out-of-a-shovel' thing I have
standing guard at the gate, eh?

(picking very pungent radishes for the last few days,
and watching my one pea pod slowly begin to fill out...)
