Sigh Stefan could you just throw this in the Florilegium or something...
Just kidding.

Get fresh or dried peanuts.
Rent Dances With Wolves, Gone With the Wind, Shogun, Sentiniel or some
other really LOOOONNNNGGG Movie.
Get a Big Pot.
Nope Bigger, Bigger Yep there ya go.
Now get enough salt for your taste.
Half a cup to a cup works for me.
Any other spices to taste.
Cayenne, Garlic, whatever.
Put the movie in the VCR or DVD player.
Put the peanuts in the Pot add Water until the peanuts are floating.
Now fill the Pot almost to the top with more water.
Dump in the Salt and spices.
Put the whole thing on the really big Element on the Stove.
Turn it on to high.

Credits should be about over grab some popcorn and something to drink.
Go enjoy the first hour or so of the movie.

Hit pause.
Refill drink,
Is the water boiling yet? No? Go back and enjoy the movie some more.
Yes? Oh good. Stir the peanuts. Now go back and enjoy the movie.

Finish the first tape.

GO check the water. Boiling yet? No? Check the element. Is the water
Hot? We're getting there then.
If the water was boiling already then it is time to add more water.
Check the taste of the water. Salty enough? If not add more salt to
taste.

You can probably go back to the movie again you know what they say about
watched pots...

Half way through the second tape, Try a peanut. Careful the water is
hot.
If you like them rare it should be done by now. If you like them well
(Mushy) then Add more water and go finish the movie.

Once the movie is over the peanuts should be done enough for even the
most picky of folks who like to squish the things out of the shells.
(This is about the consistency they come when someone puts them in a
can...)
I call them DEAD!!!

Drain the peanuts, store in baggies, or whatevers and I keep them in the
fridge to keep longer... (But that is just me)
I keep them in Ziplock Quart sized Freezer Bags just cause I can tear
through that many in one sitting.

Dang NOW I AM HUNGRY!!!
Off to the Inlaws. (They grow peanuts)

Enjoy the recipe. Least thats how I do it.

Nichola

Oh and usually just eaten as a snack.

I have never seen them as a garnish and would bet that any self
respecting Southerner would probably Fall on the Floor Doubled over
Laughing if we saw them used that way. But that is a guess....
