Too late.  For a while in my house we had both asian and german roaches, it
was like living in the middle of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom for a while.

I think the last straw, and the last bit of my belief in a comfortable life
disappeared, when I opened the microwave and saw a german roach in there.

Being the cold-hearted butcher that I am, I shut the microwave and turned
it on for 30 seconds. Nothing happened, it still crawled about as happy as
can be. I got even more cold hearted, and turned it on for another 45
seconds.  IT STILL skittered happily about.  It did get a little puffy
though. Thats it, it earned my respect, I chucked it in the front yard.
Then I purchased that new brown gel that comes in a tube and every roach in
my kitchen flat out disappeared.

Okay, back to food content. Regional foods. Hmmm. I grew up in the bosom of
fundamentalist Mormon territory in the 60's (Las Vegas).  Green jello with
celery, walnuts and pineapple appeared at every extended family dinner,
ward dinner and funeral.  Halloween was always popcorn balls or apples. I
was much older before I realized that everybody didn't get to have mesquite
barbecue all the time (we chopped bushes in the yard and chucked them in
the fireplace to cook on). But, creosote tea for arthritis *shudder*, its
worth skipping.
