In view of our ongoing fruit cake discussion, I just ran into this recipe and
thought I'd pass it along. It seems like it might be a nice compromise
between fruit cake and cake with raisins etc in it.

Polish Mazurek Tea Cakes

2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup soft butter

3 tablespoons heavy cream

1 cup chopped nuts
juice of one orange and one lemon
candied cherries
pineapple, citron and orange peel
1 jigger rum

Mix 1 cup of the sugar, flour and salt together.
Cut in butter.
Add 1 egg and then cream.
Mix until well blended.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
Mix remaining ingredients well except candied fruit.
