My admittedly scant reading of the sagas suggests that they, the Lapps, were
generally viewed with suspicion by the Norse, believed by them to be
habitual traffickers in fell magics, and were thus considered by them to be
dangerous outsiders who were, on occasion, to be killed out of hand as a
simple precautionary measure.
