Noble Cousins!

Greetings from Solveig! One of the myths of the colonial period is
that the houses were all painted white. They were actually painted
lots of different colours. People in Lexington, Mass. are often
prevented by the local "Historical Society" from painting their houses
the colours that they actually were painted in 1775, because they
don't fit the popular imagination of what colonial houses look like.

Some colours are easier to achieve than others. Black and white are
fairly easy to achieve. So is red-brown. But, that does not eliminate
lots of other colours. Once you are painting houses, it is pretty easy
to paint them lots of different colours.
