Hmmm...the version of Stout Cake that I used to make for my Dad (was
actually his favorite kind of fruitcake, either that, or he was just
being nice <g>) has sultanas and a bunch of other dried fruits. Don't
remember the currants.  I actually like it too, probably because it
wasn't so dense and sticky that you felt like you had scrape it off your
teeth....<gg>
Now, on the other hand, my favorite fruitcake _story_ would have to be
that one by, I think, Truman Capote?, about making fruitcakes with his
cousin when he was a child....NPR always plays it during the holiday
season.
