I believe there was a Saveur article on this about a year ago.  The
deep-fried Mars bar was invented by some London chip shop that will
apparently drop anything in the basket just to see what happens.  Culinary
Tuchux, as it were.  *grin* IIRC, they start with a frozen bar and just dunk
it briefly in the hot oil.  It's weird, certainly, but no weirder than
breading and deep-frying ravioli. :-)
