Not all Near Easterners are Muslims: there are Christians in Egypt
and the Levant, among other religions and places.

Oh yeah!  In fact I made a wonderful meatball dish from one of my fave
cookbooks - Food From Biblical Lands.  Helen Corey even gives a special
Lenten food section- lots of Orthodox Christians in that area!
