Speaking as a librarian and a bibliomaniac---
I use www.bookfinder.com to start.
If you go to that site and click on----
http://www.bookfinder.com/about/booksellers/
that page will show you all the other Booksellers
and Used/Rare Book Listings Services that Bookfinder.com
links to... which means you can click on those highlighted
names and go directly to those sites. Enter your search there.
The major way to succeed at these searches is accurate
information and lots of patience. Enter your searches under
a number of options...isbn; author; author/title; author/keyword
etc. Don't just search under one entry and when you get no hits,
give up. Try it another way or another dozen ways. These databases
are full of errors. Mistakes in titles, author's names, etc. etc.
Keep looking. The titles actually turn up quite frequently....
affording them when they turn up can be the problem...
