Just a note to anyone who was following the eariler thread about Edward II:
there is an excellent article on the April _Speculum_ by Claire Valente,
titled _The "Lament of Edward II": Religious Lyric, Political Propagnada_.
17 pages, copious notes, interesting account and a thorough look at the
poem allegedly written by Edward (the conclusion is a probable No).
Interestingly, Dr. Valente is at the University of Portland, only a couple
of miles from me... :-)

Also an excellent article by Barbara Hanawalt on Medieval Childhood... I
heartily recommend membership in the MAA for those who can afford it (basic
rate is $55 annually- you get a leetle card and _Speculum_, as well as the
Academy Newsletter. Pretty good deal for academic stuff).
