No.  Corn meal mush.  It's generally finer meal, cooked drier and more
solidly packed.   Apicius has a recipe for wheat polenta, sliced, fried and
served with honey, which is basically the same recipe my mother used for
corn meal mush with syrup substituting for honey.

The other two uses for corn mentioned in 16th Century writings is as bread
and in a tort.  No recipes unfortunately.
