Curious, I thought it was called "cola" because it originally contained kola
nut extract (from the seeds of either Cola acuminata or C. nitida) which is
a lovely cocktail of caffeine and theobromine.  Of course, that definition
makes "caffeine-free cola" an oxymoron.
