Kirsten,

I posted the mincemeat recipe for Bear, because Margerite wanted some.
If you can't find it in the archives, I'll try to find it again and
repost. However, I've been "cleaning" again and it might take me awhile
to find it.  Let me know.

The people who tasted my freshman attempt and like mincemeat said it was
wonderful. I don't like it and thought it tasted like sawdust mixed with
molasses. Yuk!

It came from an ancient Kerr canning book. The book was so old it said
you could safely preserve this using a boiling water bath. My newer Kerr
canning book has two different recipes, neither of which is the same.
But, the newer versions call for pressure canning or freezing. I have
not looked for a period source.
