But not the baker's loaves.  Dough was stolen only from loaves brought to be
baked in the oven.  The baker's loaves had to meet the requirements of
weight and quality established by the local baking regulations and they only
lost about 25% in the baking.

This particular tale is from Riley's Memorials of London and is quoted in
H.E. Jacob's Six Thousand Years of Bread.
