Oh, not necessarily write it up, but have it available if someone asks. "My
lady, this pie is wonderful; what is it?" "Oh, that's a mushroom pasty from
Le Menagier, a French manuscript from 1390". Now admittedly, there's no way
to know from that simple statement whether I followed the recipe accurately,
but at least they would know where to go look it up.
