We would usually cook something that everyone could eat, then have
additions for those who could manage them.

A typical thing might be pasta with a vegetable sauce, where we'd just
boil up some rice or corn pasta for the person who couldn't handle
wheat, but otherwise we all had the same. Those who could manage it
would add cheese, or perhaps we'd have some browned chicken bits which
we'd throw into the sauce at the end, or something. Another typical
thing was to stir-fry a couple of different dishes which everyone could
eat at least one of, and serve with rice. Another good stand-by was
roasts, with roasted vegetables and everything, because everyone could
eat enough of that to keep them happy.
