Paid for X-Rays witholding (Was: [Sca-cooks] Wine names)

Hmm..... I've run into this several times in connection with my work as a
Health Benefits Advisor for Army Recruiting.  The answer about medical
records, and possibly about X-Rays is that they can charge you for making a
copy of same.  My Recruiters routinely have to pay $25 to have their medical
records copied out of their own pockets.  The TRICARE insurance upholds the
physicians right in this, and does not reimburse.

I believe the reasoning is that the records and x-rays are the property of
the medical office, you have only paid for the recording and processing and
physical labor necessary to take the pretty picture.

However, throwing a screaming fit might suit your mood.  Of course, it might
frighten the receptionist into calling building security too.  ;-)

stefan...legally, under federal law.. once you pay for the xray..
they belong to you...
just like legally, under federal law... if you ask they have to
let you read your medical
chart, whether, in the docs office, hospital.. etc..
a lot of places play that game.. when they refuse ask to see the
'rule' in writing... or throw a screaming hissy fit and demand to
see thier supervisor.. keep going up the food chain..
if for no other reason than to shut you up they wil give them to
you... <grins>
but the merest thought of a law suit should do the trick..and
shriek that you WILL file a complaint with your insurance company
and do..
