Thank you for the clarification/correction. I think though, that the
comments about the differance between how the Church treated butter
vs. olive oil and how it cause regional confrontation may not have
been talking about Lent, where both olive oil and butter are
apparently verboten, but for the less fast days. Does your referance
indicate which, if either, olive oil or butter were allowed on lesser
fast days?
