NOTE: Chime has unsubscribed from the Cook's list but asked
me to forward this as a "last hurrah".

===============================================================

Reading my favorite garden magazine from the public library this weekend,and
found something which may be more appropriate for brewing lists, feel free
to forward; but it's spring, I've been finishing planting the garden, our
ancient apple is groaning with garbanzo-sized applets and so I thought of
the list!

I don't really know how old Perry is, and this magazine focuses more on the
18th and 19thCs as "old" than on medieval times, but still...

A sidebar in the Feb 2002 issue, p. 96, of Gardens Illustrated (British),
about Perry Pear varieties. (There was an article in the Nov 2000 issue).

A group of aficionados has organized a "National Collection" of perry pear
trees ... "including many old and almost extinct varieties. ... rescued
trees have been added to the National Collection ... which can be seen by
appointment at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern, Worcestershire WR13
6NW. Tel 01684 584900. Perry pear trees are available from H.P. Bulmer,
Plough Lane, Hereford HR4 0LE (that's zero-el-ee).  Tel 01432 345285."
