Cucumbers are Old World (Asia). Squashes (Curcurbitae) are New World. Melons
are from Asia (except watermelon, which comes from Africa). Gourds are Old
World, but are hardly ever eaten anymore, except the wax gourd/winter melon
(Benincasa), which is from Asia.
