Well, admittedly, I happen to like all species, other
than most insects, but, 'Lainie, if you're a cat
person, I think you'd also love ferrets. They're
hysterical- think coodinated kitten with an attitude,
and a frequent case of the "hair, teeth and eyeballs".
They also get along wonderfully with cats.

Miss Ethyl picked me out. The first time I ever met
one, I reached into a cage with a bunch of them, and
one insisted on attacking my hand, so naturally, I
bought her.

Every morning at precisely 10 AM, she'd wake up (until
then, you could hang her upside down by one paw and
she wouldn't wake up) and go use the litter pan. She
then had her breakfast and her water, and it was
exercise time, whether the cats were interested or
not.

She'd run through the house, attacking and awakening
every cat (I usually have half a dozen) and get them
all to chase her into the bathroom. There'd be a
crash, and a moment of silence, then half a dozen cats
would come flying out of the bathroom, with one ferret
in hot pursuit, through the kitchen, into the living
room, and into a corner of my bedroom, where there was
a loud crash, a moment of silence, then one ferret
came running out (except they don't really run, they
go humpety-humpety-hump), through the living room,
through the kitchen and into the bathroom, with half a
dozen cats in hot pursuit. This would occur for about
10 or 15 laps, until everybody was well exercised (
mere humans were advised to keep out of the way, with
feet tucked up on the couch, if possible) when
everyone would troop into whatever room the nearest
human was in, and collapse into piles containg 2 or 3
cats, and at least one ferret.....
