I hope it isn't like "Guns, Germs, and Steel" - it was (supposedly) read by the entire freshman class last year and all sorts of small discussion groups and larger lectures were held. We also read it in my office. Perhaps since we are international in scope, and so had knowledgeable people in just about every area covered, we mostly found the book an intriguing 40-page article expanded into a 400-page book that was not well presented or argued. He managed to undercut himself pretty severely in several places.

>to PW. He's supposed to tackle the spoiled meat myth of the Middle Ages, among other things.

This sounds more promising. I hope someone reads this and reports back to us.
