I just finished the handbook for service and haven't recovered quite enough
to go on to the carving and manners volumes, but I can tell you this- I
don't know of a description of serving dishes that indicate square ones.
And I just looked back through the pictures I put together for a paper on
serving a few years ago. 34 pictures- lots of round and oval serving
platters and bowls and dishes. No square ones. There are trencher slices
that are square, but no serving dishes.

That's what I have- that doesn't mean there aren't any out there- just that
I haven't seen them.
